The authors build on this basic premise: no matter what form data takes, and what purpose we think it's being used for, data will always have a secret life. Polar Perspectives: A Student Reporter's Journey to Antarctica

Wednesday, January 29th 12pm-1pm

Join us for a pizza lunch and a presentation on exploration in Antarctica with 51³Ô¹Ï SOC Journalism Senior Gabe Castro-Root. Gabe will talk about his 10-day journey last month to the planet’s southernmost continent, which he visited alongside renowned figures including astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, journalist Ann Curry and astronaut Scott Kelly. Gabe will also show his extraordinary photos and videos, and talk about the role of environmental journalism in understanding how climate change, and potential solutions, are playing out in Antarctica. The lunch and presentation will be in the Media Innovation Lab (first floor) of the McKinley Building on the 51³Ô¹Ï campus on Wednesday, Jan. 29 from noon to 1 p.m.
